God’s Loving Kindness

Isaiah 63: 7-8
I will mention the loving kindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He hath bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His loving kindnesses.

For he said, Surely they are My people, children that will not lie: so He was their Saviour.

If you look closely, you will see that the foundation for the beauty of the island is an open Bible. I like the symbolism of that. If Israel had paid more attention to the open Word of God, perhaps their restoration to Him wouldn’t have been so long in coming. Perhaps some of their suffering could have been avoided.

But now, in the Second Coming and the Millennial Kingdom, there will be nothing but praise and love for God’s care over them down through the centuries, in preserving them as a nation although they have scattered to every corner of the earth.

In this section, Messiah is predicted to mention the many past mercies of God to Israel, the people He will come to deliver from their enemies in that day.

Isaiah 30:18. “And therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious unto you, and therefore will  He be exalted, that He may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for Him.”

This verse begins a section in which there are 18 predictions yet unfulfilled.  They will all be fulfilled beginning with the second coming of Jesus Christ to establish His kingdom on earth for 1000 years.

The doctrine of Jehovah waiting for man is prominent throughout the scriptures, not always expressed, but plainly implied. Here it is expressed that He waits for man and that He will wait for Judah to come  to acceptance, so He can fulfill with them the everlasting covenants made with their fathers; and then they shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem and weep no more.

If only His people had repented and returned from their idol worship, and met the terms of the covenant to fulfill righteousness so that He could bless them; but they refused while He waited. He has even waited over 2000 years since Jesus Christ died and rose again, and He will wait until Christ comes again (Is. 66:19-21; Zech. 12:10-14-21;Matt. 23:37-39; Rom. 11:25-28).

An Inheritance

Ephesians 1:11-12. “In Whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him Who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: That we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ.”

Paul is speaking here as a Jew, one of those who, as a nation, have an inheritance because they were predistinated–marked out beforehand–according to God’s purpose.  The Gentile nations now have the choice to share in that inheritance, not through Mosaic Law but through salvation by grace through faith.

God chose us out long before the world began.  Remember, time is of no interest to God. His past, present, and future are all the same.

This inheritance and predestination will be fulfilled at the second coming of Jesus Christ. Sometimes, it is so easy for us to lose hope.  The world grows darker and darker as nations, including America, turn their backs on God and godliness.  But there is that blessed hope, that sure promise of the return of Jesus Christ.

So many things await that wonderful day:  The Church’s fulfilment;every saved individual’s blessing; the redemption of our bodies; the conversion of Israel, and the full redemption of all the Gentile  nations. It is then that all in heaven and earth will be united under the headship of Jesus Christ.

The Second Coming

Matthew 24:27. “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.”

This is only an artist’s rendering. We do not know what it will look like, except that it will be sudden and dramatic, like lightning flashing from east to west across the sky. We don’t know the day nor the hour. We only know that it will be at the end of the Tribulation period that Christ will return to earth; His feet will touch the Temple Mount, and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!

There will be no doubt about Him. He will come in power and glory against which none can stand.  The heavens will open, and His sign will appear.  Will it be the sign of the cross?  I don’t know.  No one knows.  It would be fitting, but what God has purposed will be far beyond our imagination.  The world will never be the same,
