8 In a little wrath I hid My face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer.
9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto Me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
Sometimes we need to remember that time means very little to God. He says He hid His face from Israel “for a little moment.” In the whole context of eternity, our 10,000 years (give or take) of history on this earth is a blink of the eye to Him. And yes, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around that!
Then, in verse 9, God compares His promise of eternal safety for Israel to His promise that He would never again send water to cover the whole earth. This is a promise He has kept. He will also keep His promises to Israel, and to all believers everywhere.
A better day is coming. God isn’t finished yet!
