Isaiah 11:10. “And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people: to it shall the Gentiles seek: and His rest shall be glorious.”
This verse, speaking of Messiah, shows both His lowliness and His exaltation. He had been born in obscurity, the little root of the tribe of Jesse, in the line of David. He becomes the Lion of Judah, which is the line of David, the tribe of Jesse. He becomes like an ensign, or a flag, a banner, under which all the people of the earth are summoned. It is not an ensign of war, but of universal peace. His throne, or authority, will be glorious.
His light shall be among the people, like the Shekinah glory in the Tabernacle (Num. 10:33; 2 Chron. 6:41; Psa. 132:8, 14).
