Isaiah 10:25-26. “For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction. And the Lord of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb; and as His rod was upon the sea, so shall He lift it up after the manner of Egypt.”
These verses can be seen as both near future, when God relieves Israel of the harsh captivity by the King of Assyria; also as far future, when Antichrist comes to the end of his power.
The references to historical events in biblical history are both times when God, by His sovereign power, delivered Israel. The slaughter Midian at the rock of Oreb is a story of Gideon in Judges 7. The lifting of the rod over the sea is found in Exodus 14, when Moses, in obedience to God’s command, lifted his rod over the waters of the Red Sea and God provided a dry path for Israel. They were delivered from Egyptian slavery.
God always delivers His people in His own way, in His own time.
