Isaiah 2: 1. “The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.”
Jerusalem and Zion are the names of the only city that God promises to redeem and make His eternal earthly capital (v.1:27, 52:9).This will take place the the 2nd Advent of Christ (1:27; 59:20-12; Zech. 12:12-13:1; Rom 11:25-29).
The city looks far different today than it did in Isaiah’s time, and has become the focal point of war for those who find their religious roots or their homeland in Jerusalem. When Jesus Christ comes back to reign, it will become the City of Peace, and it will be the center of His rule during the Millenial Kingdom. Israel is the exact geographical center of the earth. Throughout history, Israel has been coveted, and Jerusalem as well, by many nations.
Doing a study on Jerusalem would take far more time than I have, but I encourage you to do a little research, if you’re so inclined. It’s a fascinating journey through time.
