Ephesians 3: 17-18. “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith: that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height: And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”
I tried to figure out the best way to split these verses into more than one post, but I finally realized the best way was to not split them at all. 🙂 They are, after all, the final part of a very long sentence, and they all revolve around the same thought: The love of God.
Paul’s desire was for the believers in Ephesus to be firmly rooted in faith; to begin to grasp the amazing love of Christ; and to know that love not just with head knowledge, but in their hearts and souls.
I am more in awe of the love of God with ever passing year–month–day–of my life. I think it takes a lifetime to grasp the deep, deep love of Jesus. I was born again when I was only five, and I understood in a childlike way that Jesus loves me. Now, and 68, I am just beginning to truly understand and know the depth, height, and width of God’s love. It is extravagant. It is without boundaries. It is holy. It is sacrificial. It is pure. It is limitless.
I am loved, and knowing that, I am free to love others in the Name of Jesus Christ.
