Making Peace

Ephesians 2:15.  “Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace;”

I have read this whole passage many times before; I’ve even taught through the book of Ephesians in Bible study class.  For some reason, though, this time it is speaking to me in a whole new way. It is exciting, reassuring, comforting, and wonderful to see so plainly, step by step, what God has done.

He abolished, through His death, the enmity between Jew and Gentile, setting aside the Law written down in the Old Testament, breaking down the middle wall of partition, making the two (Jew and Gentile) into one new man, embodied today in the church.

In Christ there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek (Gentile).  We are one in Christ.  He has made peace between us. He is our peace.

  1. Exactly, and well said. Thanks, Linda. There are no such distinctions in the REAL community of the Lord Jesus. Paul paid the price for stating this. He got it from both sides and every side. He made it very clear by the Lord’s revelation that ethnic distinctions are abolished, religious distinctions are abolished, gender distinctions are abolished, and all other non-spiritual distinctions are abolished. The real community of the Lord Jesus is a SPIRITUAL community beyond mere surface distinctions. Therefore, whoever fights against spiritual community by fighting FOR such distinctions is fighting against the Lord. Be blessed!
