Our Peace

Ephesians 2:14. “For He is our peace, Who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition betwee us.”

That first sentence just stops me every time I read it. Jesus Christ is my peace.  In a world where peace is constantly threatened by the enemies of God, it is easy to become fearful. I cannot fear when I remember that Jesus Christ is my peace. No matter what.

He has brought together that which was divided.  Jew and Gentile are one in Christ.  The middle wall of partition was a low wall surrounding the temple.  Gentiles were never to cross that wall, even on pain of death.

The Jews always wanted to live apart from the Gentiles, having their own neighborhoods even in Gentile surroundings.  But Jesus Christ has taken down  that wall of separation, because His shed blood atones for Jews and Gentiles alike. There is no longer any difference between us.

I love this verse.  Gives us a lot to ponder, and lot for which to be thankful.
