Ephesians 2:10. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
This verse has become precious to me over the years, first as personal encouragement, and then as one of my most-used counseling verses.
The word workmanship comes from the Greek poiema, which is the root word for our poem. We are His masterpiece, His special creation, made for a purpose that He had in mind before we were created. Any artist loves what he creates, takes pride in it, and rejoices when others recognize the value of the work. Anyone who blogs understands that what we write is our own poiema, and we labor over it and take pains to make it as perfect as we can.
We write for a purpose. We want the words we write to be, in some way, a joy to those who read; or a warning, or an education, or an inspiration. That is how God feels about each one of us. He has made us for a purpose that He had in mind long before we were even conceived.
What a privilege to be created by the Creator for a purpose that only we can fulfill in the way He had in mind!
