Matthew 17:2. “And He was transfigured before them: and His face did shine as the sun, and His raiment was white as the light.”
Transfigured: The word comes from metamorphoo, to change the form. It is a complete change.
His face did shine as the sun: Look directly into the sun even for a moment, and you will seriously damage your eyes. It is too bright for the human eye to tolerate. Jesus’ face was that bright, because He is totally pure, totally holy, totally without sin. He is why there will be no need for the sun or any other light in heaven. He is the Light of the World. There is no darkness in Him at all.
His raiment was white as the light: Even His clothing was changed. No such purity of whiteness has been seen on this earth. Complete purity. Complete holiness, so that even His clothing was affected by His light.
Can you imagine what Peter, James, and John were thinking? What they were feeling? And there is more!
